How your answers are used

Attribution

Your answers are recorded as your opinion, attributed to you, and shared with the employer. The report shows "The referee reports…" to make it clear that these are your observations, not facts.

Verification

We run checks on the information you provide alongside the candidate's claims:

• Referee email — we check that the email domain belongs to a real company
• Employer record — we check the company against the Companies House register
• Employment dates — we compare your answer with the candidate's stated dates
• Email authenticity — we verify that the email genuinely came from your domain

Privacy

Your contact details are kept for 3 months from when the check closes, then deleted. If you decline, your details are kept for 30 days instead.
