How consent works and what you are agreeing to.
Giving consent
When an employer raises a check on you, you are asked to read what we do and tick a box confirming:
"I consent to PreHire contacting my referees to verify the references I provide."
We capture the time, your IP address and the version of the privacy notice you saw when you consented.
What happens after you consent
Once you consent, the check has a closing date of 14 days. We invite your referees and begin running the verification checks. Nothing is sent to any referee before you consent.
If the employer entered the referees
If the employer provided the referee details, you still need to consent. You will see the list of referees they entered, with a note that none have been contacted yet. You can review, edit or replace them (depending on the permission the employer set), or confirm the list.
Declining
You can decline at any point. If you decline, the check is cancelled, the credit is returned to the employer, and no referee is contacted.
