Question sets
How to create and manage competency question sets for reference checks.
Question sets control the competency questions that referees see when completing a reference.
Default set
Every organisation starts with one default question set. It contains five competency questions (ratings from 1 to 5) plus four free-text prompts that are fixed and cannot be edited:
- Key strengths
- Areas for development
- Would you re-employ them? (Yes / No / With reservations)
- Anything else
Creating a new set
- Go to Settings → Question sets.
- Click New set — it starts as a copy of the current default.
- Give it a name.
- Edit the competency questions: reorder, reword, add or remove (maximum 8).
- The four free-text prompts and the verification questions are fixed.
Managing sets
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Duplicate | Creates a copy of the set |
| Rename | Changes the displayed name |
| Set as default | Makes this the default for new checks |
| Archive | Hides the set from the check-raise picker. Archived sets stay attached to the checks that used them. |
You cannot archive the default set or the last remaining set.
How sets work with checks
Questions are snapshotted onto the check at raise time. Editing, changing the default, or archiving a set never changes a check that was already raised or a report that was already shipped.
